I have shortlisted a few universities and I would like some help in evaluating my choices. The following are my details :
Undergrad :
GPA : 8.1/10. BTech in Information and Communication Technology (Full Scholarship)
Branch Topper's GPA : 9.2
University : Manipal University
10th percentage : 95%
12th Percentage : 90%
GRE Split-up : 163 Q + 155 V. AWA- 3.5 Yet to give Toefl.
Universities under consideration :
1. Texas A&M - MS-MIS
2. University of Arizona (Eller's) - MS-MIS
3. Indiana University (Kelley's) - MS-IS
4. University of Illinois at Chicago - MS-MIS
5. SUNY Buffalo - MS-MIS
6. University of Texas at Austin (McComb's) - MSBA
7. University of Washington - MSIM
Work Experience:
Data Analyst at Oracle Data Science Team (Pre-Sales) and will complete 2 years at Oracle in December.
- Provides retailers with customer-specific insights derived from the fields of Planning & Optimization, Supply chain and Store operations. Applying machine learning techniques to build predictive models and to understand customer behavior patterns.
- Worked on recommendation engine, data mining, machine learning - predictive modeling,clustering, decision trees, random forests and forecasting using time series; text mining and sentimental analysis.
- Working on addressing retail shrink by identifying fraudulent transactions in retail industry.
- Developed an automated forecasting engine using Java technologies.
Internship
Worked in National Power Corporation of India as an intern for 1 month.
- Created an Online Module for Deficiency Identification for a Nuclear Reactor Simulator using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Cold Fusion.
Extra- Curricular Activities
- Was the university badminton captain.
- Represented my state at KVS Nationals badminton meet.
- Was a part of the student governing council and convener of the college fest.
- A volunteer at an NGO(Animal Welfare).
Strong LORs and SOP.
Also, I'm open to additions. I have gone through the curriculum of the courses pertaining to the above mentioned programs and I'm inclined towards going for something which is focused more on business intelligence and analytics.
I'm aware that UTA is very ambitious but the course is really ideal given my work ex.
Priority : jobs/internships>tuition>brand
