Hello guys!

I graduated in Computer Science with 81% in May'15 from MMM University of Technology, Gorakhpur. I'm looking forward to apply for the fall 18 session in the states. I'm interested in Machine Learning (ML).

Here's my profile:
* GRE: 321 (Q:167, V:154, AWA:4)
* TOEFL: Yet to receive score (expecting 105+)
* GPA: 81/100 (Topper's percentage - 83, Rank in class - Top 5)
* 1 Industrial Internship (2 months) as an Android Developer. Most of the work was in Java.
* I've started working as a software developer in a well renowned Tech firm in India from June'15. So, I'll have 3 years work ex by fall'18. My work is related to android development with many good large scale projects. I have also received 2 certificates of appreciation here for my contributions. Will get a very strong LOR from my manager.
* NO RESEARCH PAPER PUBLICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
* For my final year project, I had developed an online code compiler and executor for languages JAVA, C, C++ and Python. This was integrated in a website to host coding challenges in our college (The website was somewhat like codechef.com and spoj.com). The source code of the project is available on Github.
* I had also developed an android app with backend in Node.js in my third year which helped small businesses to manage their Instagram profile. The app at its peak gained 600K+ downloads with an average rating of 4.4. It had 40k daily active users with approx 100-120 opting for paid subscription plans daily. I had to unpublish the app in Dec'16 when Instagram changed its terms and conditions for their public API usage. I still have the source code of the project with me and the demo videos and everything of the app. Will this project help my profile make up for the lack of research publication in any way?
* Lots of completed cs projects too (but not relevant to ML specifically).

Letter of Recommendation:
1. 1 from my company's manager (very strong).
2. 2 from my College professor (strong).

After a lot of research, I've chosen the below Universities:

1. Georgia Tech
2. TAMU (don't know if I should apply here as no research exp)
3. UCI
4. Stony brooks
5. Virginia Tech
6. UMass (very low intake, should I apply here?)
7. UNC Chapel hill
8. UMCP
9. NCSU
10. CMU
11. Columbia

I need to add a few safe ones. I've gone way too ambi with this list I suppose (due to no research publications). Please suggest other unis with low tution fees and doing some great work in ML. Also, please suggest which unis I should drop from the above selected list.

Please evaluate my profile. I would be grateful if you could shortlist selected Uni's along with reasons.
