I am an IT professional holding a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, and I also possess 6 years of industry experience as a software developer. I want to pursue a Masters degree by research in computing sciences, and emailed a potential supervisor about this. Since I had very poor grades in my bachelor's, and also no published papers/journals, I didn't expect a response. But to my surprise, she did respond, and asked me to meet her on Monday morning.
According to the University, I need to develop my research proposal AFTER finding a supervisor who agrees to supervise me. This particular supervisor's research interests are very closely related to what I have worked on in the industry. I am a full-stack developer, familiar with the entire SDLC, while her research areas include Software Engineering, process improvement, requirements analysis, global software development etc.
How do I make my case stronger to convince her to supervise me, thereby gaining admission to the University? The odds are already stacked against me due to my poor academic record and lack of published papers. But with my industry experience, I can certainly contribute towards ongoing research in these areas. Is there any specific way to interact with the supervisor, which could possibly impress her enough to consider me?
P.S. This is a general question, so I am not including the country or University name. If this information is needed, please let me know.
