Hi Edulix,
I'm HareKrishna and working towards applying for Phd in comp neuroscience in fall 2018.
My bio:
1. Finished UG in india in 2010 (57%) and worked for almost an year at Tech Mahindra as Network Engineer.
2. Did masters at Univ of Wyoming in Comp Science from 2011-2015 with 3.07 GPA.
3. Worked for a software firm from Nov 2014 - May 2015 as a software developer and since May 2015 I've been working for a small hedge fund as a software engineer here in US.
4. I'm on H1 visa (IDK if its important!)
I've become really interested in neuroscience since last year and have been reading about it (bought books and there is a library I'm tinkering with) and over past few months I've become more and more convinced that I want to study more about this discipline. I see Phd is one of the avenues I can take. I understand my profile doesn't stand a chance as a Phd applicant but I still want to give it a try considering I have at least 6 months before I apply. I've looked up the research in various univs and these are my picks (Don't laugh):
1. BU
2. CMU/UPenn (Computational Neuroscience program)
3. CU Boulder
4. Princeton
5. UCSD
6. U Chicago
My questions:
1. Are you guys aware of any other universities which offer such program?
2. How do you suggest I build up the research aspect of my profile?
3. Any additional tips/pointers?
4. How probable is that I get into any one among the above mentioned colleges? (Guesstimate)
5. Should I consider applying for Spring 2018?
Thank you!
(Shoot me down if I'm being over optimistic)
