Both programs are quite different in structure.
The JHU program is a 1-year professional masters program with a focus on bioengineering design projects in the advanced and developing world healthcare systems (https://cbid.bme.jhu.edu/about/). It is probably the best program of its kind out there. I've received some fellowship and a TA position here. So my expenses would be about $50k and I'll be out with my degree in a year.
On the other hand, I have an admit to the traditional research MS in Stanford. I'll most likely major in Biomechanical Engineering if I were to go here. I haven't received any funding, so my expenses would be about $120k ($50k tuition per year + other expenses). This program too is the best there is of its type.
Now I can't decide where to go. The expenses are significantly higher at Stanford. I not very keen on research. My end-goal currently is a job in the bioengineering/medical device area. All these factors seem to favor JHU. But would 2 years of a research MS at Stanford eventually give me better prospects than JHU would in this field? The brand name and glamor attached to Stanford aren't allowing me to convincingly reject it. Any help and insights would be greatly appreciated.
