Ive got an acceptance from both KU Leuven and the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign for their Materials Science Programs. I'm pretty hopeful of a positive response from TU Delft too. I've received a tuition fee waiver from KU Leuven whereas no financial aid from UIUC. Ill be spending a net of about 15lacs (living expenses) at KUL whereas it will be around 60 lacs for UIUC.
I know that UIUC is very highly ranked top 10-15 in the world whereas KUL is around 40-60 for my course. The coursework of KUL seems much more rigorous and more comprehensive than that of UIUC.
Are the post MS opportunities in the States worth taking the huge loan ?
Also, if anyone could shed some light on the standing of KUL in academia and industry, it would be great.
