Hello, could you guys help me out with my profile eval for Fall 2017?

GRE - 336 [Q: 170, V: 166]
TOEFL - 117 [R:29, L:30, S:28, W:30]
CGPA - 8.78 [Department topper CGPA - 9.4] [Top-10 in the department] (CSE)
Undergrad Institute - IIIT-Delhi (Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi)

Here is the initial list of universities I am considering. I'm finding it difficult to narrow down universities, would be grateful if someone could help out. (I am inclined to apply for an MS in CS itself, though I've heard it's harder to get in. Is that true?)

1. Stanford [Should I consider applying? Since they offer dual specialization, I was thinking I could talk about both AI and HCI. Is that a bad idea?]

2. CMU

3. GeorgiaTech

4. UIUC

5. Columbia

6. UPenn

7. USC Viterbi (I've heard they are stringent regarding the GPA)

8. UT Austin

9. Cornell

10. UCLA

11. UWash, Seattle doesn't offer an MS in CS. Are the other two campuses as good?

Any other suggestions? Should I add some safe ones to the list?

Other details:

I am actually a bit confused about the specialisation. I am interested in a general MS in CS but if I have to I will probably be specifying AI/ML as my fields of interest. HCI is something I am quite interested in but most of my previous work is more coherent with AI/ML.

Research experience:
1. A semester long independent project on Modelling and Verification of snapshotting algorithms for distributed systems.
2. A semester long (+ongoing) project on face recognition using Image Analysis and Machine Learning (Deep Learning) algorithms. (Might be able to submit a paper on this in the conference, WACV. Not sure, though)
3. A two-month (+ongoing) project on Text Analysis (NLP) for mixed-code data in the context of social media analysis.

Relevant courses (in college):
Math courses - Linear Algebra, Discrete Mathematics, Probability and Stats, Applied Econometric Analysis
CS courses - Information Retrieval, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence

Course Projects (the most relevant ones) -
1. An article ranker, summarizer and PPT creator (using NLP techniques)
2. Will be doing another project based in the text domain in the Machine Learning course.

Work Experience:
A 2-month internship at a start-up on web development using NodeJS.

Moderate extracurriculars. + 3-4 months of volunteer work at an NGO (teaching financially underprivileged students).

Recommendations - Moderate to good, all 3 from professors from my institute. One of them has now transferred to IIT-Mandi.

Thanks in anticipation! Let me know if I can add any other info. Razz
